3 of the most impressive architectural developments in Miami

architectural developments in Miami

For some, thinking that Florida could be an icon of world architecture may seem absurd. The majority considers that it is the classic European cities full of cultural references that deserve to be cataloged as large urban works. However, in the last decade, the use of avant-garde techniques and the interest of large construction firms have made architecture in Miami become a true artistic phenomenon.

Every year there are more projects related to the construction of convention centers, apartments, parks, green areas, museums, private houses, bridges, and tunnels by award-winning architects of the prestigious Pritzker Prize and known around the world for creating innovative concepts. These are three of the most impressive architectural developments in Miami.

1.- 1000 Museum

The first woman winner of the Pritzker Prize, Zaha Hadid, started her first skyscraper in the West. After her death, the Project Director of Zaha Hadid Architects, Chris Lepine, completed the project. One Thousand Museum is a fusion of unprecedented futuristic art, architecture, and design, located in the Museum Park community in the center of Miami. This ultra-luxurious project offers 83 condominiums with stunning views of the bay, recreation areas, and a heliport.

2.- Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)

The Pérez Art Museum in Miami (PAMM) inaugurated in 2013 is located in the Museum Park and is part of the redevelopment of the central coastline of Biscayne Bay. It is an open, elegant, and above all imposing structure that blends with the tropical landscape. The windows of the building are embedded with wooden planks under the concrete beams to minimize the impact of the sun on the glass and thus reduce the energy consumption of the building. The tropical plants that adorn abroad were selected for their ability to adapt to local conditions.

3.- Glass

It is a building created by the Cuban René González. It has 18 floors and was inaugurated a few years ago. Its concept is based on creating a “virtual” structure that gives the impression of being suspended in the air by using impact-proof and sun-proof glass panels (each panel has a screen to darken the tone during the day). Glass is undoubtedly a unique work of architecture in Miami.

How can a professional in the construction sector be part of the development of architecture in Miami? There is only one way to achieve insertion in a luxury and highly competitive professional market and it is through training. The design of novel structures that manage to create the perfect symbiosis between the aesthetic and the functional is a direct consequence of the application of modern manufacturing techniques that go beyond the traditional ones.

An architect who wants to be part of innovative projects needs to learn tools that allow him/her to efficiently manage resources in order to achieve precise and ground-breaking results.
